Google Designs A New Policy For Apps To Restrict Collection Of Users Data
  • Google is rolling out a number of changes on Android to ensure the protection of users. Earlier this week new rules were passed on that banned apps from displaying ads on the lock screen. These can trick users into downloading unwanted software or sharing data which they don’t want to.
  • Google’s safe browsing team is laying out new restrictions on apps collecting users data. Under the new policy, apps must provide their privacy policy and prompt users to share data. This applies to everything from a user’s contact number to the list of all apps that are being installed on the phone.
  • The new requirements will apply to all functionality of apps. For an instance, if an app wants to send analytics reports unless it gets permission from the user it cannot send the required information.
  • The apps downloaded outside of the Play Store are subjected to this policy too. The app must follow the policy or Google Play Protect will display a warning whenever an app tries to collect your data without your permission.
